“Biophilic design is the idea that in order to create a healthy environment, design needs to incorporate nature …Today most of us spend upwards of 90 per cent of our time indoor, so it’s no surprise designers and architects are finding holistic ways to help make us healthier, happier , even more creative through biophilic design ”

A very happy home for 2016

Friday, January 1st, 2016

a very good article in Glamour Living  listing 10 ingredients for a happy home. I fully agree with the importance of light, plants, scents and fresh air . These ingredients clearly help creating the right ambiance ; you and your friends will feel the benefits. This is also part of my conception of decoration and what I always advise my customers. I would add the many benefits of candles that can  diffuse some very sophisticated fragrances ( Dyptique candles are amazing ! ). Also consider a HEPA air filtration system that can really help freshen up the air . At your disposal for any advice. Happy New Year and all the best for 2016 !

why hire an interior decorator ?

Thursday, September 24th, 2015

While most homeowners will hire a professional roofer or plumber, when it comes to interior decorating many people think, “Why should I spend money when I can do it?” The answer is that an interior decorator can actually save you money, not to mention time. Read on to find out how…

1. Interior decorators offer professional expertise.
Interior decorators help you put your creative stamp in your home by dealing with decorating, furnishing, and space issues, often in unique ways. Choose an interior decorator whose projects are not only appealing, but have proven practical to build and live in as well.
Interior decorating is not just “having an eye” for color or recognizing quality furniture. It is an extensive discipline that encompasses many specialized areas of expertise, including:

Colors and how they relate to one another.
Patterns and how they relate to one another.
Human perception of space, depth, and texture.
Compatibility of furniture styles.
Effective space utilization.
Specialized painting and stenciling techniques.
Wide variety of possible window treatments and much more.

2. Interior decorators have spent years finding the best professional interior design resources.
The professional decorator has already dug up the best sources for everything from upholstery services to marble pedestals.

3. Interior decorators can save you money in furnishings and other home decorating supplies.

Likewise in interior decoration, she captures the spirit of the homeowner or employees and purifies the soul of the space with her taste for art and sense for aesthetics.

Maria is Brazilian by birth. She spent most of her professional life in Europe and has been living in Toronto for the past 10 years. Having far-reaching experience working in diverse cultures that particularly value style and art, Maria concludes that decoration is about ‘creating well being.’
